“We belong to Nepal”, world’s second richest country in water resources, but are you sure it’s true? I don’t think so. We live in the capital (Kathmandu) of Nepal but we can see water scarcity as we go through localities. Why do you think this is happening? It is because we are not saving water. It doesn’t mean that if we are the second richest country in water resources, we shouldn’t save water, only because we have plenty of it. So here are the tips

“How to save water”. Read and follow them.

• When washing dishes, don’t let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with water and the other with rinse water.

• Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save upto 1,000 galloons a month.

• Monitor your water bill for unusually high use. Your bill and meter are tools that can help you discover leaks.

• Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save galloons every time.

• Water your lawn or garden in the morning or evening when temperature is cooler to minimize evaporation.

• Wash your fruits and vegetables in pan of water instead of running water from the tap.

• Use a broom instead of hose to clean your driveway and sidewalk save water every time.

• Collect the water you use for rinsing fruits and vegetables, and then release it to indoor plant.

• Spreading a layer of mulch around plants retain moisture and saves, time and money.

• Install covers on pools and saps and check for leaks around your pumps.

I hope these steps will help you save water because if we don’t save water then who will save?
